cranberry salsa burger
Cranberry Salsa:
175 mL (¾ cup) picante sauce
250 g (8 oz) whole cranberry sauce
7 mL (1 ½ tsp) finely grated orange peel
60 mL (¼ cup) Western Family orange juice
2 mL (½ tsp) dried mint, crushed
Beef Patties:
500 g (1 lb) Western Family Beef ground chuck
1 red onion, fi nely chopped
15 mL (1 tbsp) peppercorns, crushed
125 g (4 oz) Swiss cheese, thinly sliced
4 whole wheat hamburger buns
1. Mix salsa ingredients together in saucepan, reduce over medium heat until mixture is chunky. Set aside to cool.
2. In a bowl, mix together beef, onions, and crushed peppercorns.
3. Form patties and grill over medium heat until internal temperature is 160ºF (70ºC) or no pink remains. Top patty with cheese and continue heating until cheese is melted. Place patty on bun and top with cooked cranberry salsa.
